We have a rare opportunity for a Machinist to join a small, busy and perfectly formed team in Bury St Edmunds. They are a subcontracting machine shop who manufacture and repair components to a wide variety of industries and due to this, they need someone who can manually turn as well as programme and operate the CNC machinery.
Your duties include:
- Work from drawings and parts.
- Load materials onto the machines.
- Cut and handle raw materials.
- Set and program the machines.
- Operate the turning machines.
- Monitor the tool wear during cycles.
- General maintenance of the machines and workshop.

This position is Mon – Fri, 8:30am – 5pm, they offer flexibility around this for emergencies and often offer overtime (depending on the project) at time and a half. You couldn’t ask for a more lovely or friendly bunch…who like to have a laugh too. The music is always on, and they have two tea breaks either side of lunch!
what we’re looking for.
We need someone with HAAS and Fanuc experience who is comfortable and confident switching from manually turning to CNC turning based on the projects you will be working on. Due to the variety of industries, there is no right or wrong background you can come from. You will need to have good technical knowledge as you’ll be working to drawings daily.
