farewell 2018, you’ve been exceptional! here’s why…

The last 12 months have been fantastic for polkadotfrog. As we prepare to wave goodbye to the year, with our white hankies fluttering in the chilly winter breeze, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on our many achievements.

2018 brought with it the usual challenges of a growing business, yet, we’ve remained resilient. In fact, even with the constant uncertainty of Brexit, 2018 has been our best ever year for growth.

We’re extremely proud of our team members who’ve worked hard to help us achieve so much in one year. Here are some of our highlights:

January

Following the opening of our Peterborough office in December 2017, business really began to ramp up in the new year, keeping our local consultants Alex and Eliza busy placing candidates in a variety of temporary and permanent roles in and around the city.

February

Our new Finance division launched this month, with Luke heading up the team in Cambridge, providing candidates with new job opportunities and broadening our services for clients. For the last 11 months, we’ve been successfully matching people with positions ranging from Payroll Administrator to Finance Director.

April

We revealed our new brand and revamped our website. Over the years, polkadotfrog has evolved into a widely-recognised and reputable recruitment agency, however, we felt that we’d outgrown our original identity. Our new look better reflects our values and approach to doing business, yet still stands apart from the competition. Our redesigned website offers new functions such as an improved search facility, which provides more accurate search results.

May 

polkadotfrog believes in giving back to our local communities and gets involved with charity activities whenever possible. In May, Directors and Co-founders, Jane Harris and Lucy Tufts, raised money for the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in Cambridge by taking part in its ‘Star Shine Night Stroll’. Not only did they complete the 10-mile nocturnal walk, but the agency also sponsored the event for the eighth consecutive year.

May also marked the much discussed changes to GDPR. To help clients and candidates understand the regulations, polkadotfrog joined forces with TDP marketing to host three GDPR seminars in Cambridge, Ipswich and Peterborough.

August

When many other businesses were enjoying the lull of the summer holidays, we were busy launching our new sister company, Greywolf Recruitment. Specialising in Construction, Driving, Engineering and Industrial sectors, we set up Greywolf to support clients’ short-term and permanent staffing needs as well as to provide bespoke recruitments solutions.

Also this month, Nick Skipworth joined us as Operations Director across both agencies.

October

polkadotfrog is an enthusiastic supporter of employee wellbeing, so we marked World Mental Health Day in October by running a survey about people’s experience of workplace stress. Shockingly, a huge portion (86%) said they felt overwhelmed at work. We’re passionate about this topic, and we’ll be doing a lot more awareness raising in 2019.

November

November 24th marked polkadotfrog’s 15-year anniversary – our teams around the East of England celebrated with glasses of bubbly. Find out more about our story so far by reading this article which appeared in the press.

December

As a responsible business, we strive to support people in need all year round. Our Ipswich team ended the year by creating winter packs made up of donated, warm clothing for homeless people in the town.

What’s in store for us in 2019?

We’re looking forward to another positive year in 2019, both in business and with our community-focused activity. Our plans include providing support for women returning to work following a career break, running additional seminars for candidates and clients, and announcing an innovative charity partnership.
