A full time, permanent position has become available for a global trading company who are looking for a SHE Officer. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in Health and Safety but also environmental issues and be aware of the legislation that surrounds these important topics. You will be confident, proactive and able to assist with existing policies and provide informed ideas. This role would be perfect for a graduate or equivalent who is looking to build a career in the SHE arena.
Duties:
Developing and implementing environmental & HS strategies and action plans Supporting staff on sustainable procurement for all goods and services such as fuels, oils, plant and machinery Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy projects/ideas Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices Ensuring compliance with environmental & HS legislation Auditing, analysing and reporting environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies such as the Environmental Agency Carrying out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce HS & environmental risks and financial costs Promoting and raising awareness, at all levels within the business, of the impact regarding emerging HS & environmental issues Potentially managing the development and implementation of an environmental management system or ISO accreditation Training staff at all levels in HS & environmental issues and responsibilities Supporting the directors with research regarding alternative disposal routes and or new sites Support directors negotiating environmental service agreements
Experience: NEBOSH or equivalent qualification is desirable but training may be considered for the right candidate Forward thinker, who is motivated and can work on own initiative Experience working in a busy team Confident and organised individual with positive outlook
